Several major UK retailers have issued urgent product recalls in recent days, including for E. coli-linked food items and a children’s toy containing asbestos

Over the past week or so, several major retailers have issued urgent product recalls. Whether it’s a food item that has been incorrectly labelled or a product deemed unsafe for use, shoppers should keep a close eye on these alerts, as they could save you from a great deal of trouble.
Among the shops issuing recalls recently are Tesco, Iceland and Amazon. If you’ve purchased any of the affected products, it’s advisable to stop using them straight away and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Tesco Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad
Tesco is recalling its Tesco Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad 215g due to possible contamination with E. coli, reports the Express.
Symptoms associated with this infection include diarrhoea, stomach pain, vomiting and, in some cases, dehydration.
The product details are as follows:

Use by: August 25, 26 and 27, 2026
If you’ve purchased this product, do not consume it, and return it to your nearest Tesco store for a full refund.
Should you have already eaten it and are experiencing any of the above symptoms, you should remain at home until you have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to prevent passing the infection on to others.
Chicken wraps
A range of chicken sandwiches sold in Iceland and produced by Summit Foods have also been recalled owing to potential E. coli contamination.

Should you have purchased any of these products, do not consume them. Dispose of the item and submit proof of purchase to sales@summitfoods.co. uk, stating the date and location of purchase, in order to claim a refund.
Sand Art Activity Kit
Turning to product recalls, a children’s sand art activity kit sold via Amazon and eBay has been urgently pulled from sale due to the potential presence of asbestos.

Product Code: 8929/Sand-12
Asbestos is a prohibited substance as it poses a serious health risk even at minimal levels of exposure, meaning this product fails to comply with the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
The product has been recalled from consumers by the importer, Fairtrade Wholesale UK Limited, and online marketplaces eBay and Amazon. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) strongly advises that owners cease using this product immediately, keep it away from children, and wear gloves and a mask when disposing of it.
It can be returned to the original point of purchase for a full refund.
Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water
It has been established that certain batches of this cleanser may be microbiologically contaminated, potentially causing eye inflammation.
Brand: Simple Sizes and batch codes: 200ml (610041, 611641, 615941) 400ml (611141, 611341, 611441, 613341, 613441, 614541, 614741, 614) and 730ml (613841, 613941, 611041, 616641, 616741).
These products were stocked at a number of retailers, including Home Bargains and Boots. Unilever has since pulled them from shelves and issued a recall for end users.
