There’s no need to book and everyone is welcome to come along to Botanic Gardens between 11am and 3pm.
As the October half-term gets underway, you’ll be looking for things to do with your little ones and it’s always handy when there’s something going on which won’t set you back financially.
Prior to GlasGlow’s return next Friday, which will see the Botanic Gardens transformed into a Zombie Zoo, the team is also bringing back its free community pumpkin decorating workshops. Kicking off from tomorrow (October 10) morning in the Botanic Gardens, and running through the school holidays and beyond, there are nine dates in total to choose from.
There’s no need to book and everyone is welcome to come along between 11am and 3pm on 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31 October.
Visitors can take their decorated pumpkin home or leave it to become part of GlasGlow’s spectacular annual Pumpkin Patch, which will be seen by tens of thousands of visitors during this year’s event.
The itison Pumpkin Fund was created in 2019 to make sure GlasGlow has a positive impact on the local community each year and has raised more than £100,000 to date for charities, schools and community groups across Glasgow.
This year, it will be supporting SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) and their network of Nooks. With more than 10,000 people already visiting in Glasgow and Aberdeen, The Nook offers free, walk-in, non-clinical mental health support.
Designed to feel warm and homely, these spaces break down barriers and give help to anyone in need. SAMH is raising money to roll out more Nooks across Scotland, with the next hub planned for Edinburgh in Spring 2027.
Oli Norman, CEO of itison and creator of GlasGlow, said: “With GlasGlow just around the corner, we’re really proud to announce this year’s Pumpkin Fund recipient. SAMH and their Nooks are a brilliant resource for people across Scotland, with the Glasgow hub right around the corner from itison HQ.
“Mental health challenges touch every family and every community, so we’re proud to support the important and vital work SAMH is doing.
“As part of the Pumpkin Fund, we’re also bringing back our popular free pumpkin decorating workshops, led by the team at CLAASH Pumpkins. They’re brilliant fun for all ages, completely free to enjoy and a great way to get into the Halloween spirit.”
Hazel McIlwraith, Director of Fundraising and Major Appeal at SAMH, said: “We’re delighted that SAMH has been chosen to benefit from this year’s itison Pumpkin Fund.

“The Nook is an open door where others are closed – a safe space for hundreds of families, young people and adults every week, including people who traditionally don’t get access to mental health services. “Any money raised will help us continue to deliver life-changing support, often when people need it most.”
Donations to The itison Pumpkin Fund can be made during your visit to GlasGlow and as part of the Zombie Feeding Experience.
This year GlasGlow runs from October 16 until November 1. Find out more and get tickets at glasglow.com.
