The current layout and name date from the 1860s. It consists of a grand geometric layout with broad walkways, all of which lead to the Grand Fountain – an ornate cast-iron fountain at the centre of the park which contains statues of herons, dolphins and walruses. Located on the fringe of Paisley town centre, Fountain Gardens is an ideal place for a picnic on a summer’s day with sections of grass, a relaxed environment and picturesque scenery perfect dog-walking and chilling out. In recent years, funding provided by Community Scotland has allowed numerous upgrades to take place in Fountain Gardens. These included work on paths, lighting, fencing, play area, landscaping, additional seating and the supply of bins around the Burns Statue, which combine to provide a great visit to one of Paisley’s most popular parks.
