Crime boss Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel charged after 6am police raid
Crime boss Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel has been charged after armed cops swooped on a Glasgow property in an early-hours raid.
Officers descended on an address in Robroyston at around 6am on Wednesday as part of Operation Venetic, a long-running investigation into serious and organised crime.
Daniel was arrested in connection with serious and organised crime, firearms and drugs offences. Police also arrested 39-year-old Steven Gordon at an address in Garthamlock in connection with the same offences, as well as an alleged conspiracy to murder.
Both men have now been charged and are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, August 27.

Family of murdered Stacy Mair say justice system failed her
The family of Stacy Mair say she could still be alive if her estranged husband had been fitted with a GPS tag before her death.
Stacy, 35, was found dead at a cottage in Houston, Renfrewshire, on July 27, with police treating her death as murder. Her estranged husband Jim Mair, 43, was also found dead at the property, with his death being treated as unexplained.
Jim had appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on July 6 charged with assaulting Stacy and had been granted bail. Her mum Ann Hunter and brother Sean Hunter have now backed a petition calling for GPS electronic monitoring of domestic abuse perpetrators considered to pose a significant risk to a current or former partner.

Man charged with attempted murder after cops allegedly mowed down in hit-and-run
A man has been charged with attempted murder after two police officers were seriously injured when a van was allegedly driven at them in Larkhall.
The two male officers, aged 41 and 43, were carrying out enquiries at a property on Glen Avenue at around 2pm on July 25 when they were allegedly struck by a white Renault Trafic.
Both were rushed to hospital with serious injuries following the incident. Detectives arrested a 32-year-old man after stopping a vehicle on the M74 at Junction 8 southbound at around 8.40pm on Tuesday.
A 59-year-old woman was also arrested and charged in connection with attempting to pervert the course of justice. Both are due before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, August 26.

Stolen car found flipped on roof after Dundee crash as driver flees
A stolen car was left overturned following a crash at a Dundee roundabout as police launched a hunt for the driver.
Emergency services were called to Old Glamis Road, off the Kingsway, at around 5.50am on Wednesday after a report of a one-vehicle collision.
The silver motor was found lying on its roof with debris scattered across the road and its front bumper hanging off. Officers later confirmed the vehicle had been stolen from the Forfar area.
The driver fled the scene following the smash, but police say they are following a positive line of enquiry to trace them.

Thug sends cyclist flying into traffic in shocking bike attack
A cyclist was sent flying from his bike and into the path of oncoming traffic during a shocking attack captured on video.
Michael, known locally as Squeaky, was cycling along Commerce Road in Stranraer on Monday when a youth riding a bike approached him from behind.
Footage shows the rider speeding up before deliberately swerving into Michael, sending him crashing onto the road. A car can then be seen approaching as the attacker jumps off his bike and flees, while the person filming can be heard shouting in alarm.
Police have confirmed that a male youth has since been charged with assault in connection with the incident.
