Team behind thrilling new west end deli Krämers reveal plans for food spot

Husband and wife team, Rob and Anna-Lena Aitken, are excited to be bringing their new deli project that celebrates their passion for good food and drink at an affordable price.

A husband and wife team bringing an exciting new deli to the west end have revealed a little more about what people can expect when they open this weekend.

Rob and Anna-Lena Aitken are the duo behind Krämers – a new food and drink emporium coming to Hyndland Road that has been teasing its arrival on Instagram.

The pair have now announced an opening date, shared pictures of the new space, and confirmed what people can expect when they launch on Saturday (February 7).

Rob, who grew up in Glasgow and has come from a professional kitchen background and worked all over the world, married former restaurant manager Anna-Lena last year, and the couple now hope to blend their experience of working in the food and drink industry to launch the new deli.

Anna said: “Krämer’s centres around our passion for good food and drink. Life is only getting more expensive and we wanted to find a way to give access to restaurant-quality food and ingredients from home.”

To do that, the pair had to search the city for their ideal location, and eventually found their perfect pick in Hyndland in the west end.

Rob stated: “We hunted high and low all over the city, from Pollokshields to Clydeside. As these things always go, we were on the point of giving in, then we visited 175 Hyndland Road and immediately saw the potential. With its bustling high street vibe and amazing local talent in independent shops nearby, it was a no brainer.”

Anna, who hails from Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany but has lived here for many years, is the reason for the fascinating name.

Rob explained: “We got married last year, and Anna took my surname, and as a way of thanking her for giving her own up, I decided to name the shop after her family, to keep the Krämers name going.”
