A woman sobbed as she claimed today she was raped and beaten “two or three times a week” by a murder accused.
The 67-year-old alleged George Metcalff, known as Kenny, first struck when she was 16.
The witness claimed attacks would happen if she hadn’t made dinner or his bath wasn’t run.
Metcalff denies three charges of raping and assaulting the woman on various occasions between 1971 and 1981.
Metcalff is also accused of killing Paisley woman Patricia Henry, known as Patti, at a flat in Girvan, Ayrshire, on November 17, 2017.
Prosecutors claim the 71-year-old attacked Patricia by “means unknown”.
The 46-year-old mum lived in Paisley before relocating to Girvan in October 2017.
Metcalff is also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice between the day of the alleged murder and February 22, 2018.
This lists an accusation that he did “conceal and dispose” of Patricia’s body again by unknown means.
The indictment features a number of other charges including the rape of Patricia.
This is said to have occurred between January 2008 and October 2011 at an address in Paisley.
He faces a separate accusation of sexually assaulting Patricia while she was sleeping in December 2014.
Metcalff also allegedly physically attacked her by choking her in October 2017.
Metcalff faces a further rape charge a woman between October 1989 and December 2004 at properties in Johnstone and Paisley.
He is further accused of assaulting the same woman and another on earlier occasions.
The court heard from the woman who stated she met Metcalff in Spring 1971 when she was 16.
She stated that she was raped by Metcalff while in a car at Glennifer Braes, Paisley, Renfrewshire.
She stated that they kissed in the back seat before he took “the bottom half of his clothes off.”
Prosecutor Alex Prentice QC asked if she agreed to have sex with him and she replied: “No…I told him I said no.”
Mr Prentice asked how the witness felt about the incident and she replied: “Upset” and later claimed she felt “numb” when she got home.
The woman claimed Metcalff was also physically abusive towards her.
She said: “[It happened] When dinner wouldn’t be ready on the table for him coming home.
“He would slap me…on the face or anywhere he could.”
She also claimed to have been slapped by Metcalff who believed she was showing a new purse with his wages in it to her family.
The woman stated that in one “beating” she received a broken nose and was called a “cow, b**** and a wh***.”
She also described another attack with a shower hose.
Mr Prentice asked how frequent the beatings took place.
She replied: “Two or three times a week if things didn’t go right at his work or dinner wasn’t on the table for him coming home or his bath wasn’t ready.”
The woman claimed she would also be raped after being beaten.
Mr Prentice asked why she didn’t report Metcalff and seek help.
She replied: “I knew if police got involved in those days in the 70s it was classed as a domestic and they wouldn’t take anything further.”
The woman claimed that she also had “nightmares” about Metcalff raping her on the first occasion.
Iain McSporran QC, defending, put it to the woman that there was “shouting, swearing and anger” in the relationship but there was no violence used.
The woman replied: “There was violence.”
Mr McSporran followed up: “Your allegation of sexual assault and rape, the only sexual relationship was consensual on the part of you both.”
The woman replied: “It wasn’t…I know what happened to my body, what he did and what he done.”
The trial continues before judge Lord Armstrong.
