Scots renting out their parking spaces and driveways make more than £1million

Scots are earning thousands by simply renting our their spare parking space.

In 2021, people across Scotland made a huge £1,012,055 in total by listing their driveway or private space on website YourParkingSpace.

The site allows people to advertise their space for a fee and gives motorists the opportunity to book a slot – whether it be throughout the working day or as a place to keep their car while they jet off on holiday.

Spaces close to city centres and airport tended to be the most popular.

The area with the greatest earnings was Edinburgh as Scotland’s capital provided spaces for tourists and holidaymakers as well as people nipping in for some Christmas shopping, making £361,634 collectively during 2021.

Members listing spaces in Glasgow and Paisley were also quids in, raking in £350,427 and £105,391 respectively.

The site provides a cheaper alternative for parking in many cases – compared to airport or city centre parking.

Many use spaces regularly as part of their commute or if attending sporting events.

You can rent a parking space by the hour, daily or even months with the website offering over 350,000 parking spaces throughout the UK.
