Paisley primary school on fire as emergency services race to scene

Emergency services raced to Gallowhill Primary in Paisley tonight following reports of a fire in the school.

Firefighters rushed to the Netherhill Road school around 6.15pm t to tackle a blaze within the building.

Two appliances attended to extinguish the flames, and firefighters remain on the scene alongside police.

A spokeswoman from Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) confirmed that the fire is now under control, with firefighters expected to leave the scene shortly.


The spokeswoman said: “We recieved a call regarding a fire at Gallowhill Primary in Paisley at 6.15pm and two appliances were mobilised to the scene.”

“At 8pm, one appliance was still in attendance, with one hose reel jet being used to extinguish the fire within the school building.”

A spokeswoman from police Scotland confirmed officers were also in attendance.
