A MAN is fighting for life in hospital after an alleged stabbing near a Paisley polling station.
Emergency crews raced to Broomlands Street after the alarm was raised around 9.15am with eyewitnesses describing “officers everywhere”.

A 50-year-old man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his injuries are described as life-threatening.
A man, 26, has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
Police confirmed the alleged blade attack is not linked to the election or the polling station situated on the same stretch of road.

Martyrs Church Hall, one of the town’s official voting stations, is directly opposite the alleged stabbing scene – a flat close beside a takeaway.
One eyewitness said: “Some kind of major incident in Paisley. Several police vans, cars and several incident support unit outside a polling station.”
Another person on the scene asked: “Anyone got any idea what’s happened on Broomlands Street at the church/polling station?
“Police everywhere directing traffic away from the street.”
Renfrewshire Council confirmed that voters are still able to access the church in order to cast their votes in today’s poll.
And police are now appealing for witnesses.
Detective Inspector Ian Ross from CID said: “The two individuals are known to each other, and one is now in a very serious condition in hospital.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the alleged attack, has dash cam footage or CCTV to get in touch.
“They can contact us via 101 quoting reference number 0666 of 6 May 21.”
