East Kilbride rugby kids head off on tour as fun day raises vital funds

East Kilbride Rugby Academy threw a fun day to welcome new players and raise funds for its young players to go on tour.

The event at Calderglen Country Park last Sunday was a huge success with over £1000 raised so the P7 team can experience playing the sport in Ireland.

Attractions on the day include bouncy castles, soak the coach, traditional summer races and a barbecue with some fantastic tombola prizes up for grabs.

And local youngsters enjoyed an introduction to the game by taking part in a fun game of touch rugby.

The East Kilbride Rugby Academy welcomes all ages and abilities to join in with training and games.

They are currently looking for P1/2’s, P6’s, Under 13’s, Under 15’s and girls of all ages.

East Kilbride Rugby Academy is a successful organisation and have started the season strong.

Last weekend their minis kicked off their season where P5s and P7s beat Cumnock; Under 14s won against Ayr and Dumfries; Under 15s beat Hamilton and the Girls Under 14s and Girls 16s beat Paisley.

Volunteers are also welcome if you would like to get involved.

Alternatively if coaching or playing is not for you, come along and watch. The games are on most Saturdays and Sundays.

The West Regional conference event starts next week and all are welcome to come along to support local youngsters.
