Driver smashes through Glasgow Airport barrier before leading cops on chase

A driver forced their way through a barrier at Glasgow Airport then led cops on a chase through Paisley.

Officers were forced to pursue the motorist yesterday morning after an alarm was raised regarding a driver “forcing their way through” a barrier at the Paisley airport.

The man is then said to have led police in a chase through the town before being apprehended shortly after 9am yesterday.

Police Scotland confirmed a 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a number of alleged road traffic offences following the incident.

A statement from the Road Policing division read: “One driver, after forcing their way through a pay barrier at @GLA_Airport failed to stop for #GlasgowRP through @PaisleyPolice ‘s area.

“After a pursuit, the driver was apprehended and held custody for court via @COPFS for multiple alleged Road Traffic Offences. #JustDontRun.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 22-year-old man has been arrested in relation to multiple alleged road traffic offences.”
