Breaking news – commuter traffic chaos as incident blocks major Paisley road

One of Paisley’s busiest roads was sealed off earlier tonight after an incident involving a car.

At least one person has been hurt, and the victim had to be removed from the vehicle after firemen sliced off the roof.

Renfrew Road ground to a halt as emergency teams including fire and police raced to the scene.

Commuter traffic had to be turned back into Paisley at the roundabout before the Tesco Express petrol station.

The two Renfrew bound lanes were closed and fire trucks commandeered the forecourt of the petrol station.

One onlooker said: “It is chaos with the traffic at the moment and the area resembles a car park, it is hardly moving.

“We saw a man being put on a stretcher. It is not at all clear what happened, the blue car involved does not seem to have been badly damaged.”

“Firemen then held up a green tarpaulin to shield what was happening.”
