A second person has been struck by a train on Paisley railway

A second person has been struck by a train between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street train stations.

ScotRail confirmed the tragedy this evening, stating it had received reports that a person was hit by train at around 6pm.

Services between Glasgow Central and Gilmour Street  were diverted for several hours as the emergency services attended the scene.

Passengers were instead advised to travel to Paisley Canal.

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: “Sadly, we’ve had reports that a person has been struck by a train between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street.

“All services between Glasgow Central and Ayr, Largs, Ardrossan, Wemyss Bay and Gourock are being disrupted.

“Glasgow Central to Paisley Canal is unaffected.”

It is understood the line has since reopened.

The second tragedy to have taken place on the railways in the past 28 hours, another person was also hit by a train on the route at 9.44pm last night.

Emergency services were called and the line reopened at 11pm.
